New Youth Club
3rd Feb 2010
The Bemerton Heath Community Centre is starting a Youth Club for 13 – 16 years old on Wednesday 10th February 2010. This follows in the wake of a very successful Youth Club for younger children on Mondays with about thirty attending.
This youth club for 13 – 16 years old will be a ‘targetted ‘youth club which means that it will not be open to everyone and at present is offered to the members of the after school club held on Thursdays in the Neighbourhood Centre. If successful it will be extended to any children in that age group that attend Salisbury High School and other schools in the Salisbury area.
A further youth club will be held on Thursday evenings which will be an ‘open’ club that anyone may attend.
The club will be open from 6.00pm to 8.00pm every Wednesday and held in the Community Centre. Some of the games on offer are a pool table (50p per game) and a table football (20p per game). There is also a room dedicated to a Wii console with a 42” television monitor and a table tennis room. There is a ‘tuck shop’ where sweets and drinks will be on sale. Entrance to the club is free.
The club is supervised by volunteer staff of the Neighbourhood and Community Centre, all of whom are police checked, and the atmosphere will be one of minimum supervision allowing the young people to take ownership of the club where they can relax and meet their friends in a safe and friendly environment.
If anyone has any queries about the club please direct them to the manager of the Neighbourhood and Community Centre, Edward Callaghan, at the Centre or telephone 01722 349271, or email ecallaghan@salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk.
